Iggy Pop – Lust For Life (1977)

Stu’s Album of the month for June

I’ve never been a huge fan of Iggy Pop\The Stooges to be honest. However having witnessed him assault the stage in 2000 and then again in 2001 at a couple of Scottish festivals there is no denying he is a punk rock phenonmenon.

His second solo album, Lust For Life, is easily my favourite from Iggy’s back catalogue. There is probably no surprise though as this is possibly his most accessible album. It’s certainly more rousing rock and roll than primal punk hollering, as some of his output could be labelled. From the opening drums of “Lust For Life” (which for me will always conjur up images of Renton and Spud being chased through Princes Street) to the closing chords on “Fall In Love With Me” David Bowie’s production can be heard. And no bad thing either!

So do we have any Lust For Lifers here?
